Big Bear’s Historic Storm

Air2Air was the first commercial flight to land at Big Bear Airport after their historic snow storm this past week. Most records seem to indicate that it was the biggest snow storm Big Bear has seen in over 40 years. The back to back storms dropped so much snow on the area that an emergency declaration was signed by Governor Schwarzenegger to assist with the clearing of the roads and evaluating and assisting with other safety issues for Big Bear residents.

The Big Bear Airport crew worked all night Sunday to clear the runways and taxiways and managed to get the airport open about 2:00 am Monday morning. Air2Air was the first commercial flight to land with a load of five happy snow boarders. Robert Mackey, President of the Luxury Toy Club uses Air2Air quite often to give the members of the Club opportunities to experience life’s luxuries in unique and innovative ways. “Flying up to Big Bear when all the roads are closed and everyone else is saying ‘I wish we were there’ was very sweet.”

Air2Air is a great way to get to those fun ski areas right after the snow has fallen. Big Bear, Mammoth, Bishop, South Lake Tahoe, and Brian Head are all just 30 minutes to two hours away. Spend the day, spend a couple of days. Tell your friends!
