Napolitano Gets it Right

I cannot tell you how excited I am to finally agree on something with our US Homeland Security Secretary, Janet Napolitano. We at Air 2 Air have always believed that unique and different treatment by TSA at each location makes it much more difficult for terrorists to conduct their training and preparation. Napolitano specifically stated:
"What we do not want is a cookie cutter approach -- where the same measures are in place everywhere -- because then terrorists can plan and work around them.”

Napolitano is in Europe trying to convince the EU members that they should be the ones to install body scanners to zap all their US-bound passengers. (Note: Air 2 Air has recommended the use of XRay glasses as both a cost reduction measure and morale booster.)

Surprisingly enough, we are in agreement with many of the European nations that the issues associated with body scanners exceed their benefits. In our minds those issues are: privacy, effectiveness, speed, and cost. Currently the Europeans are “studying the issue.” So we should make it clear that our agreement with Napolitano is only on the issue of generating many different procedures and approaches to security screening. Both to make it tough on the terrorist wanna-be’s and to evaluate the effectiveness of different approaches.

The European Parliament has opposed installation of the body scanners for reasons such as the possible radiation dangers and privacy issues. Imagine that, Europeans more concerned about privacy and individual rights than the US.

Just so you know. At Air 2 Air you will never be “body scanned.” Either we like the way you look or you do not get on the airplane!
